The WAVMA Conference and Annual General Meeting 2017


Also known as “The City of Roses” or “Marosvásárhely”, Tirgu Mures city is the place where Romanian and Hungarian cultures have blended to give rise to what the city is now, an important historical, cultural and educational center, acknowledged for its unique attractions, such as the city’s fortress, dating back to the late 1400’s, the Prefecture, built in the 17th century, and the Palace of Culture, dating back to the early 1900’s.

The WAVMA Annual General Meeting, 2017, will take place on September 13th, at the Plaza Hotel, Piata Trandafirilor 46-47, Tirgu Mures 540053. At the same venue, from September 12th to 14th, 2017, we are organizing a Scientific Conference providing insights into the current concepts and practices in Aquaculture and Ornamental Fish. Colleagues from all over the world are welcome to both events.

We will create an event which everyone interested in aquatic animal health and husbandry won’t forget!

Abstracts for Poster presentation should be submitted by August 1st. Posters will require presenter’s presence during the Poster presentation session. At least one author of the poster must register for the Conference.


All submitted abstracts are being reviewed by the Scientific Committee. An acceptance notification will be sent to abstract submitters following the scientific review.

All abstracts will be included in the Conference proceedings, and authors may be invited to submit a full manuscript for publication in the quarterly The Aquatic Veterinarian

• All abstracts must be written in English, in Arial, 12, justified text alignment.

• Abstracts may be submitted for oral or poster presentation.

• Submission of more than one abstract is acceptable.

• Images and tables accompanying abstracts are allowed, providing they are embedded into the abstract document.

Abstract Title  – limited to 50 words, Arial, 14, bold, UPPER CASE, centered alignment.

Authors – Arial, 12, centered alignment. Author’s first name will be written in small capitals followed by the author’s name in UPPER CASE (e.g. James JOHNSON). Co-authors from various organizations will be indicated by 1, 2, 3 etc. superscripts, corresponding to their affiliation. The presenting author’s name should be marked by an asterisk (*).

Abstract text – must not exceed 300 words and should include the following:

INTRODUCTION: (context or background for the study)

OBJECTIVES: (study’s purposes)

METHODS: (basic procedure used)

RESULTS: (main findings)

CONCLUSIONS: (principal conclusions, emphasizing new and important aspects of the study or observations).

Key words – maximum 5 words, Arial, 11.

10. Clinical cases, Conundrums


Speakers are expected to provide 20 minute or 40 minute presentations.

Poster presentations are welcome (up to 1 x1 m in size).

The official language of the Conference is English.
