It is my pleasure to invite you to this year’s ESWI Science Policy Flu Summit, taking place on 28 September in Brussels, Belgium.

Building on a very successful edition in 2015, I am excited to present an engaging agenda with dedicated lectures on newly emerging influenza viruses, current and future antivirals, and the pros and cons of vaccinating children, pregnant women, people with asthma and diabetes patients. Dr. Marco Goeijenbier will present the outcome of a brand new review study on influenza vaccination for travellers, while Dr. Florian Krammer will review the pathways to improve the effectiveness of influenza vaccines.

Leaders from health professionals´ organizations, patient organizations, academia, industry and civil society need to work together to reduce the burden of both epidemic and pandemic influenza in Europe. To that end, we need to address urgent public health issues, discuss scientific advances and exchange information and ideas in an informal yet high-level setting. The Science Policy Flu Summit is specifically designed to provide such a platform for debate and interaction and I would therefore like to personally invite you to join me and other colleagues in Brussels on 28 September.

Kindly click the button at the bottom of this invitation to register. Registration is free, but the number of seats is limited. More information about the concept of the Summit and a preliminary programme is available on our webpages at www.flusummit.org

Looking forward to meeting you at the Summit!

Best regards,

Prof. Ab Osterhaus
ESWI Chair
