IVSA Development Fund

What is the development fund?

The IVSA was created in 1953 to benefit the people and animals of the world through the sharing of knowledge and science of veterinary students. The Development Fund (DF), created in 1981, is one of the main ways for the IVSA to achieve this. The aim and purpose of the DF is to provide support and resources to developing veterinary school in underprivileged countries.  Our contribution comes in the form of money, books or equipment.  This way the IVSA gives disadvantaged students a chance to improve and grow.

*** APPLICATIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT FUND WILL  BE ACCEPTED FROM THE 1ST OF JANUARY TO THE 29th OF FEBRUARY 2016***

Where do the funds come from?

The Fund’s income depends on financial donations, student activities, and fund raising activities. It’s also helped by donations of equipment and services.

The main fund raising events are the live and silent auctions, held at three different events throughout the year:

  • The first event is the IVSA Symposium which is held in a different country each winter.  The symposium is a gathering of veterinary students and doctors from around the world.
  • The second auction is held in the USA at the SAVMA Symposium in the spring.
  • The last auction is held at the IVSA Congress during the summer.  This is the largest gathering of IVSA members during the year.

We also sell merchandise during events, and the profit from this goes to the Development Fund!
